I am going hunting with Dick Cheney next week. What should I bring along?

We’re getting a 6-7week old kitten in a couple of weeks, and I want to be prepared.
Dog-5 yr-old Terrier(feist).Very calm. Hunts squirrels, though.
I am kind of worried that she may try to attack the kitten, thinking it’s a squirrel.
So, how do I need to introduce them?

Ok, so I am going to be buying a rifle in the next week or two, and I can’t decide between a .17 HMR and a .243 Win. The only thing I am really going to “hunt” is going to be groundhogs, because they dig holes in my barn. Other than that I am just going to be target shooting. I have heard that the .17 is good for varmints, but I have seen videos where it took two shots to kill a squirrel. I dont want to wound the animals I want to kill them with one shot. So the biggest thing for me is really the price (ammunition more than gun) because I like to shoot for fun when I’m bored. So any insight would be appreciated.
ok, thanks for the help, now about the gun, I am considering getting a Mossberg 100ATR, but I dont really know anything about them. Are they any good, or should I spend more to get a better gun. I probably wont be shooting a whole lot either.

On the U.S evening news this week they featured a story about reducing the population of American gray squirrels overtaking the natural habitat of the English red squirrel. The hunters were using suppressors on their 22′s! Surprised me, in good ole England, they can use silencers for hunting? Or was this a “special” hunt? Can anyone fill me in on the rest of the story?
