If you can tell me what these animals have in common, its worth a tenner.?
The Albatross. The Gray Wolf. Whales. The African Hunting Dog. The Silver Backed Jackal and The California Mouse.
You might be pleasantly suprised at the answer.
Do animals have rights?
In my view, animals do have the right to be treated well unless they are a danger to humans [crocodiles should be hunted], need to be used as food, to work like work horses or guiding dogs, to clothes us [fur] or be used in laboratories. The mouse will never know why he/she is in the laboratory testing medicines. Of course I do not hunt, never hurt squirrels nor birds, and never harm dogs nor cats. And I am no conservative republican, PLEASE! [I voted democrat last November] What’s your opinion?
Are cats smarter than dogs?
Just to add to the discussion a few days ago on this, it’s true there are no seeing eye cats or herding cats (very funny comment), but I would argue the reason is b/c dogs were domesticated 12,000 yrs ago while cats only became pets about 1,500 yrs back. There’s been a lot more time for humans to select and breed dogs that have traits we like, such as the ability to follow stupid commands. Cats are much closer to wild animals (hence all the mouse hunting and energy during traditional hunting hours.) That is also why cats sleep so much. They’re not lazy. In the wild, cats need up to 16hrs/day os sleep to have the strength to hunt, this instinct has yet to be bred out of cats. Also, cats can be trained, but few people believe this and it’s not necessary since theyre pretty self-sufficient, so we rarely take the time. I’ve seen cats that fetch, sit, give paws, walk on leashes and even one who scuba dives!
How do I take care of an animal problem in my basement?
My cat was in the basement making rustling noises, so I went to check it out. When I went down there, she was acting weird, like she was hunting for something. Also, I found shredded insulation on the floor and small animal feces (maybe from a mouse or squirrel) all over the place – in and on boxes, and on windowsills. There is a little panel on the chimney that was open, so I think it may have entered the house from there. Whatever it is, I think it is probably still alive. I’m tempted to look through boxes down there to see what I find (and to clean up the feces), but I don’t want to come in contact with anything that may be dangerous to me. What should I do?
