Ice fishing lures for northerns, walleyes, and crappies…?
Ok, if you read my other question then you would know that I am getting my boyfriend a little tackle box and filling it with ice fishing lures for christmas. However, I dont know anything about ice fishing (Im just an open water fisher) and going by the answers in my last post I kind of had to go by what he fishes for…and he said he fishes for northerns and walleyes and crappies…so now I am wondering…what are the best lures for ice fishing those types of fish?? Thanks sooo much for the help =D
Amateur Fishing Question?
So – I just started out fishing. I’m brand new and chances are that if any seasoned fisher saw me, he’d laugh at my gear. But anyways, the question I have is about the equipment I need.
There are two locations I fish at, one is a pretty big size lake and the other is a series of small ponds. Since they are enclosed there is no currents and the ponds have small islands scattered throughot them. Inside these locations are Blue Gill, Crappie, Catfish and Trout mainly. So, the question is what would be the best kind of bait?
Currenty I use nightcrawlers, this lure called a torpedo, garlic salmon eggs, a couple spooners, and some small spinners. Also – are you supose to put bait on the lures even though you are constantly reeling them in?
Sorry for the pretty dumb question, but again – this is probably my 2nd time fishing in like 10 years.
Does anyone know of a basic site for a beginning bass fisher? “Fishing for dummies” or something like that?
I fish in Ohio and mostly catch blue gill and crappie but there are supposed to be a lot of bass in these lakes but I have never yet caught one. Any help would be appreciated. I hear catching bass is much more exciting than 4 or 5 inch blue gill!
