How do I take care of an animal problem in my basement?
My cat was in the basement making rustling noises, so I went to check it out. When I went down there, she was acting weird, like she was hunting for something. Also, I found shredded insulation on the floor and small animal feces (maybe from a mouse or squirrel) all over the place – in and on boxes, and on windowsills. There is a little panel on the chimney that was open, so I think it may have entered the house from there. Whatever it is, I think it is probably still alive. I’m tempted to look through boxes down there to see what I find (and to clean up the feces), but I don’t want to come in contact with anything that may be dangerous to me. What should I do?
