Does anyone know of a basic site for a beginning bass fisher? “Fishing for dummies” or something like that?

I fish in Ohio and mostly catch blue gill and crappie but there are supposed to be a lot of bass in these lakes but I have never yet caught one. Any help would be appreciated. I hear catching bass is much more exciting than 4 or 5 inch blue gill!

Yes, I do know a couple sites that are great resources for the beginning bass wanna be, to the bass fishing pro. When I started bass fishing, it wasn’t easy. I had several trips to the lake were I didn’t catch any bass at all. It takes alot of practice, and research. Catching bass for the average fisherman is mostly luck, but for the serious bass fisherman, it is alot of work, studying, and research. You have to learn the conditions of the water, temperature, barometric pressure, time of year/season, as well as moon phase, etc… I caught many many little bass before I started catching 5+ pounder bass. I would suggest going to your local bookstore, such as Borders books, and get a book called “Bass Wisdom” by Homer Circle. It is an excellent book, and costs about 20 dollars. It will help you a great deal. And yes, hooking into a huge bass is very exciting. I would also suggest you watch a show called “People who fish” hosted by two twins, who’s names I can’t remember. It is on the outdoor channel 3 times a week. Check your listings. It is a great show because they actually show you tips and techniques for fishing different fish. The first link is to a tips page. The second site is also a tips page, and the last link is to a page with articles for beginning bass anglers. Have fun, and tight lines.
PS, here is a link to the top 100 bass fishing web sites. You can go through them at you liesure. The very last link is to the actual book “Fishing for Dummies”, but I recomend the other resources I suggested. Tight lines

BASS fisherman has probably hit this pretty good, a little extra advise try using a black and blue flake , watermellon, or green pumkin 5in, and 4 in. senko or Kinami bait, you can get them at a local walmart or tackle store most of the time. Just put a 2/0 or 3/0 wide gap hook on and run your hook in the middle of the bait cast out and let sit for a little while It usually sinks at aprox. a foot a second, when the fish are on they will usually take it once it hits the bottom if the fishing is slow wait for a bit. good luck
