The Deer Hunter (the Best Scene)
In this scene Michael (De Niro) and Nick (Walken) are being forced to play russian roulette by their vietcong captors, when they offer to play the twisted game with 3 bullets inside the revolver instead of one.
This movie won 5 Oscars in 1978, but somehow no best actor award for Robert De Niro (that was won by Jon Voight). I’m sure that if you watch this scene and judge his acting upon the strength of said scene, you will appreciate the injustice.

the most powerful scene in the movie and also an emotional one. christopher walken deservingly won an oscar here.

Sorry this is not one of the best scenes but one of the worst.
Previous remained just as emotional cripples the film also wanted to express.

i think it’s a great film. lots of good scenes.
the wedding reception. big guy playing piano in the cabin. deniro going back to look for nicky.

Some Vietnamese 101 translation for folks curious about what the cruel screws say.
There are accents missing on the vowels but you get the idea:
“Dap sung mau!” 0:07 = take the gun quick/now
dap = take (in the context), sung = gun (means generally any gun), mau = quick, fast, now
“MAU!” 0:19 = NOW!, QUICK!, COME ON! (in German movies “SCHNELL!”)
“IM” 0:44 = SHUT UP!, SILENCE!
There are words I couldn’t understand
They NEVER say “di di mau” that’s the Simpsons + Tropic Thunder only.

My father brought me to see this movie when I was 7 ! The movie theatre manager argued with my father saying it was not good for me to see, but dad told the guy “its my son, I’ll judge what he should and shouldn’t watch”….Never forgot this movie, or the Russian Roulette scenes.

Man how many things had to be by chance in order for him to be in a position to kill them all, that they all agree to 3 bullets, that the gun spins to DeNiro, and that the 3 chambers are perfectly inline to the barrel, fate was on his side.

thanks everybody that replied i just always thought that was crazy and didnt really know why, i know, a lot of people that test the ak-47 against other assault rifles always come out saying the ak is better they compare it like this, m4 carbine=porsche, ak-47=muscle car theres no denying the brutal force and power of ak-47 but me personally i go for tha m4 every time

cause they do. ak-47 was sold to the the vietnamese by the russians as they were both for the same party of communism. in afgan the pple were given ak-47 by the american to counter the russians when russians had a war against them. i guess its a slap in the face or something. in general the ak-47 was better than the colt, more fire power and more reliable. i heard that it costs less then 200 bux in some countries.

it’s main just the fact that you can drop that thing off a cliff and it would still probably work fine, most other rifles need a lot of maintenance in order to keep in good working order
